Have you ever found the perfect parking spot, only to realize it’s so narrow you won’t be able to open your door once you’re in? Or perhaps your home garage is a tight squeeze with the kids' bikes and storage bins?
At West Coast Kia, we love showing off the "magic" features that make life easier for our drivers. Today, we’re highlighting a feature that looks like it’s straight out of a sci-fi movie: Kia’s Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA).
Watch it in Action!
Check out this quick demonstration of how a Kia vehicle can navigate a space while the driver stands safely on the sidewalk:
Commonly referred to as "Smart Park," this feature allows you to move your Kia forward or backward using only your Smart Key fob. You don’t even need to be inside the vehicle!
Whether you’re backing into a tight stall at the mall or pulling your SUV out of a crowded garage so the family can load up comfortably, RSPA takes the stress out of precision maneuvering.
How Does it Work?
This technology is available on several of our most popular models, including the Kia EV6, EV9, Sportage, Sorento, and Telluride (on select trims).
Want to try it for yourself? Visit us at West Coast Kia in Pitt Meadows. Our team would love to give you a hands-on demonstration of RSPA and help you find the Kia that fits your lifestyle perfectly.
Q1. Which Kia models come with Remote Smart Parking Assist? A1. RSPA is typically available on the higher trim levels (such as the GT-Line or SX Prestige) of the Kia EV6, EV9, Sportage, Sorento, and Telluride. Availability can vary by model year, so check with our team for specific vehicle details.
Q2. Is Remote Smart Parking Assist safe to use? A2. Yes! The vehicle uses ultrasonic sensors to monitor its surroundings. If the car detects an object, person, or pet in its path, it will automatically stop moving. You also maintain control by holding the button; the moment you release the button, the car stops.
Q3. Do I need to be inside the car to use it? A3. No. While there is a version of the system that works while you are inside the car, the "Remote" aspect shown in the video is designed specifically for when the driver is standing outside the vehicle.
Q4. Does it work for parallel parking or just straight lines? A4. On most models, the Remote feature on the key fob moves the car in a straight line (forward or backward) with minor steering adjustments. However, while inside the vehicle, the full Smart Parking Assist system can help navigate more complex parallel or perpendicular parking maneuvers.
Q5. How close do I need to be to the vehicle for the remote to work? A5. For safety reasons, you must be within approximately 13 feet (4 meters) of the vehicle for the Smart Key commands to function.
